Monday 15 March
All Swimmers & Teams Must be on the Island for the
Visual Race Course inspection on Tuesday 16 March 2020.
We have found there is no substitute for this recce mission across Apolima Strait on the ferry to view the swim course. You have more chance of success knowing where you are going - a must for Swim captains.
Tuesday 16 March
Mandatory Visual inspection of the Course to Savaii
for Swim Captain / Representative and / or Swimmer
We leave on the midday ferry, returning on the 2pm ferry.
WELCOME DINNER & CAPS PRESENTATION

Wednesday 17 March
Welcome & Warm up Swim
Swim to the channel marker. Gives us practice for swim day.
Swim with your kayaker.
Meet your Boat crew
Individual Briefings with your Team - Swimmer & Swim captain
You will be allocated a time.
Each team will take 20 mins.
Thursday 18 MARCH
Starting List will be decided on Qualifying 10km times
We are again going with a scattered start
with a maximum 2.5hrs apart to the last swimmer/s

We will have a fair idea two weeks out whether we will need to utilise the Reserve Days
FRIDAY 19 MARCH - SAVAI'I
All Prizes and Medals will be presented on
Friday Morning on Savai'i.
We advise all swimmers and Teams to remain stay overnight on Savaii after the Swim on Tuesday. When you arrive and finish your swim you will be transferred to our Accommodation on Savai'i.
To qualify for the Swim you must demonstrate that you can swim 10kms in under 4hrs. This is important for two resons. Firstly, we want to know that you have the ability to complete your swim; Secondly, your start time is worked out from your 10km / 6.25miles swim time.
There are several 10km Swims around, you can qualify at any of these swims with your official result.

The Race Director and Event Management will make the call on this and swimmers will be fully informed of options.
We will attempt to swim in challenging but manageable conditions.
In the event of a full Cancellation of the event due to unforeseen weather conditions, a long course coastal swim will be the alternative.
There is no Refund for the alternative course or Full cancellation of the swim due to unforeseen circumstances. In such situations, 60 p.c. of your Race Fee will be forwarded to next year's Apolima Strait Swim.
